Retraction Policy

The River Studies is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. This Retraction Policy outlines the procedures and criteria for retracting articles to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the scientific record.

Retraction Grounds:
Articles may be retracted if they contain significant inaccuracies, ethical concerns, or if there is evidence of research misconduct, including but not limited to data fabrication, plagiarism, or unethical experimentation.

Initiating Retraction:

The decision to retract an article is typically made by the Editorial Board upon consultation with relevant experts, reviewers, and the author(s).
The Editor-in-Chief with Managing Editors holds the authority to initiate the retraction process.

Retraction Process:

A formal notice of retraction will be issued, clearly stating the reasons for retraction.
The retraction notice will be linked to the original article, maintaining transparency and accessibility.
All versions of the retracted article will be clearly marked as "Retracted."
The retraction notice will be published promptly in the next available issue of the journal.

Author Responsibilities:

Authors will be contacted to provide an explanation and address the reasons for retraction.
Authors are expected to cooperate fully with the editorial team during the investigation and retraction process.

Appeals:

Authors have the right to appeal the decision, providing additional evidence or explanations.
Appeals will be reviewed by an independent committee, and a final decision will be made.

Notification:

The retraction notice will be disseminated through appropriate channels, including indexing databases and the journal's website.
Institutions and funding bodies associated with the retracted article will be informed.

Correction vs. Retraction:

Minor errors or corrections will be addressed with a published correction notice.
Retraction is reserved for more serious issues that substantially impact the article's validity and reliability.

Review of Retraction Policy:
The Editorial Board will periodically review and update the Retraction Policy to align with evolving ethical standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.
